Prime Minister of India has recently inaugurated number of projects under the ‘Namami Gange’ and ‘AMRUT’ scheme in the state of Bihar. These include sewerage treatment plants at Beur and Karam-Leechak in Patna city under Namami Gange scheme, as well as water-related projects in Siwan and Chhapra under the ‘AMRUT’ Yojana.
About Namami Gange Project
‘Namami Gange Programme’, is an Integrated Conservation Mission, approved as ‘Flagship Programme’ by the Union Government in June 2014 with budget outlay of Rs.20,000 Crore to accomplish the twin objectives of effective abatement of pollution, conservation and rejuvenation of National River Ganga. The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) ( Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India) is the funding agency for Namami Gange Programme.
