The Maharashtra government has taken significant steps to promote the self-redevelopment of cessed and dilapidated buildings by establishing a new authority and offering a stamp duty waiver. This initiative aims to address the renovation and improvement of more than 16,000 outdated and unsafe properties in the city. The government has implemented tax benefits, streamlined clearances, and provided discounts to incentivize the redevelopment of old buildings, thereby fostering urban development in the region. Additionally, the state government has simplified the process of obtaining deemed conveyance, a crucial requirement for self-redevelopment, further facilitating the initiative for both individual flat owners and housing societies.
