Halwara International Airport Project Update

Halwara international airport project is proposed at the Air Force Station in Halwara. The authorities are yet to issue a tender for the construction of roads at the site in Aitiana village, as they are awaiting approval from the Airport Authority of India (AAI). Based on the approval and advice of the AAI to the Punjab Civil Aviation Department, two separate tenders — one for the construction of new terminal building and other for the apron will be floated. The project civil terminal conclave will be spread across 135 acre. The Punjab PWD (Roads and Building wing) estimates the building construction cost at around Rs 43 crore, and Rs. 20 crore for roads and related works. So far, the approach road as executed by the Punjab Mandi board and boundary wall has been completed. The project completion is targeted by January 2022.
