Tangedco to shift Uppur Power Project at Ramanathapuram to Udangudi

The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) has decided to shift the Uppur Super Critical Power Project at Ramanathapuram district to Udangudi in Thoothukudi. The company plans to set up two 800 MW units of the supercritical thermal power plants at Uppur at an estimated cost of ?12,778 crore. Tangedco has awarded the engineering procurement and construction contract for the project under three packages. The Boilers Turbine and Generator package is awarded to BHEL for Rs 5,852 crore. The re-tendering process is on for the Balance of Plant package which was earlier awarded to Reliance Infra, and seawater intake and outfall system package was awarded to L&T for Rs 1,067 crore.
