Four projects totaling Rs. 308.09 crore were sanctioned by NMCG in Uttar Pradesh for the control of sewerage, including the tapping of the Assi drain in Varanasi and other works. The project was sanctioned with the objective of achieving zero untreated discharge from three drains Assi, Sanme ghat and Nakhha. Other projects approved include building a 13 MLD STP and renovating existing buildings in Vrindavan City for Rs. 77.70 crore, building a 12 MLD STP and installing an interception and diversion (I&D) network in Kosi Kalan town in the Mathura district for Rs. 66.59 crore, and building a 6 MLD STP and installing an I&D network in Chhata town in the Mathura district.
