Centre approves Rs 26000 crore towards installation of 25000 mobile towers in 500 days

The Government of India had recently approved Rs 26000 crore towards the installation of 25,000 mobile towers over the next 500 days. The State-owned Bharat Broadband Network Limited, which recently merged with the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, will implement the project. The Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF), which had a balance of Rs 59,736 crore at the end of August, would be used for the tower installations. The BSNL 4G deployment would be substantially supported by the construction of new towers over the next 1.5 years.
