Shahpur Kandi Dam project

The governments of J&K and Punjab have decided that there would be a monthly assessment of the project to ensure that it is finished within the allotted period while construction on the multi-crore Shahpur Kandi Dam project is in full swing. The proposed Shahpur Kandi Dam will be built downstream of the current Ranjit Sagar Dam on the Ravi River in Punjab’s Pathankot district. On Hydel Channel, which is downstream from Shahpur Kandi Dam, the powerhouses will be built. For this project, the water that the Ranjit Sagar Dam releases will be used to produce electricity. The project will irrigate Punjab (5,000 Ha), Jammu and Kashmir (206 MW), and produce power (32,173 Ha).
