NMCG approves Industrial and Pollution Abatement Projects

G. Asok Kumar, Director General of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), presided over the 43rd meeting of the Executive Committee of the NMCG recently. In the EC meeting, project costing Rs 38 crore, involving the use of modern technologies to reduce industrial and sewage pollution, afforestation, the development of the Kalindi Kunj ghat landscape, etc. were approved. Some of these project include: At an anticipated cost of Rs. 10.30 crore, a project titled “Afforestation Programmes in States of U.P. and West Bengal 2022-23” was approved. It involves plantation, upkeep, capacity building, training, and awareness campaigns in the two main stem Ganga basin states. The development of landscape of Kalindi Kunj ghat has received ‘in-principle’ approval. The project includes creation of eco-friendly seating, waste bins, shades, plantation with one of the aims to facilitate people-river connect. An electro-chemical technology based 100 KLD capacity modular effluent treatment plant has been approved at Rs. 77 lakh for treating industrial discharge in Yamuna river.
