250 MW standalone battery energy storage system in Rajasthan

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited has issued a request for proposals for the development of a 250 MW standalone battery energy storage system (BESS). With 500 MWh of storage capacity, the facility will be connected to the nation’s interstate transmission system (ISTS). In the state of Rajasthan, the project will be near the Fatehgarh-III ISTS substation. Competitive bidding will be used to award it, followed by a reverse auction. The BESS must be built to last for at least 12 years after commercial operations begin. Over the project’s lifetime, the developer must offer full operation and maintenance for the BESS plant (including battery replacement and disposal, if necessary).
