Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC)
GVMC is setting up a waste-to-energy plant at Kapuluppada in Visakhapatnam. The plant will generate 15 MW of power using the solid waste from the city. Jindal ITF Urban Infrastructure Limited was contracted in 2016 to build this plant. The civic body will deliver 950 metric tonnes of waste on a daily basis once the plant is commissioned. The project is likely to be complete soon.The APEPDCL has already agreed to procure the power generated from the plant for 25 years.
