The Centre has granted in-principle approval for a greenfield airport at Parandur, near Chennai. Spanning 2,172.72 hectares, the airport will have two runways and three terminal buildings. Phase I is estimated to cost Rs 11,445 crore, with completion expected in two years. The project will enhance regional aviation infrastructure, catering to increasing air traffic and bolstering Chennais role as a key aviation hub.
