Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has outlined an ambitious expansion plan for its Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), aiming to increase its production capacity to 9 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) with a substantial investment of ?30,000 crore. This large-scale expansion will span 1,200 acres and is designed to enhance steel output while strengthening supplies to key sectors such as defence, oil & gas, and automobiles. The project aligns with SAIL’s broader vision of achieving a total production capacity of 35 MTPA by 2030, with RSP expected to contribute 25% of this target upon completion.
