Odisha plans to set up a mega steel plant in Keonjhar, with an estimated investment of ?30,000-40,000 crore, aiming to boost the region’s economy and strengthen India’s position as a global steel producer. JSW Steel and South Korea’s POSCO have signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the state government to develop the facility, which is expected to have a significant production capacity, catering to both domestic and international markets. The project is anticipated to generate substantial employment opportunities across various skill levels, drive infrastructure development, attract ancillary industries, and enhance raw material utilization.
