India Needs ?4.25 Trillion for Power Transmission Infrastructure by 2027

India will require an investment of ?4.25 trillion to meet its expected power demand of 277 GW by 2027, according to the National Electricity Plan (NEP) on transmission from the Central Electricity Authority. The plan outlines the construction of 114,687 circuit km of transmission lines and 776,330 MVA of transformation capacity at 220 kV and above, along with 1 GW of HVDC bipole capacity during 2022-27. This investment is crucial to support the country’s power infrastructure development and future electricity demand.
