Belagavi Airport is gearing up for a substantial enhancement with the introduction of a new terminal building boasting four aerobridges. This development will significantly bolster the airport’s capacity, enabling it to efficiently handle 2,400 peak-hour passengers, divided equally between arrivals and departures. With the existing terminal set to be repurposed for managing arrivals, the airport will be well-equipped to meet a traffic demand of 2.0 million passengers annually until 2037. Managed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the current domestic terminal features a built-up area of 3,600 sq.m, accommodating 300 peak-hour passengers. Additionally, its apron can accommodate six narrow-body aircraft such as the B737 and A320. AAI initiated the tender process for the civil construction contract of the project in November 2023, estimating a cost of Rs. 265.04 crore and a completion deadline of two years. Seven bidders participated in the technical bidding phase, underscoring the project’s significance and potential. KMV Projects has emerged as the lowest bidder for the civil construction work of the new terminal building at Belagavi Airport with a bid value of Rs.220.08 crore.
