Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority to Inaugurate Rs 1,760 Crore Water Treatment Plant in Uttarpara-Kotrung

The Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) is gearing up to launch a state-of-the-art water treatment plant in Uttarpara-Kotrung, Hooghly, at a cost of Rs 1,760 crore. This project, the largest in the state since Independence, boasts a substantial capacity of 55 million gallons per day. Scheduled for inauguration in February, the plant aims to alleviate water concerns for around 20 lakh residents across seven municipal and six panchayat areas. Spanning 10 acres, the plant repurposes land initially designated for a film city project.
