The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) aims to finish the 82-kilometer Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor by June 2025, significantly reducing travel time between Delhi and Meerut to under an hour. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 17-kilometer priority section from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot on October 20, 2023, which includes five stations: Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot.
Following the priority corridor, the next 25-kilometer stretch between Duhai and Meerut South is set to open to the public. This section features four stationsMurad Nagar, Modi Nagar North, Modi Nagar South, and Meerut South. Construction of the viaduct up to Meerut South was completed in June, and subsequent activities such as track-laying, OHE installation, signaling, and telecom have progressed rapidly. Track-laying is nearly finished, and the OHE will soon be charged between Modi Nagar North and Meerut South stations, paving the way for trial runs up to Meerut South station.
