NTPC Ramagundam, which has already commissioned solar power units totaling 110 MW, including a 100 MW floating plant, is planning to expand its capacity further with a new 170 MW solar plant. This expansion will comprise a 70 MW floating plant and the rest as earth-mounted installations. Notably, the floating plant will be situated on NTPC’s reservoir, where the existing 100 MW plant is located. Although NTPC officials initially considered a floating unit on the Yellampalli irrigation project pending government approval, they have since revised their decision.
