The Railway Board has approved the construction of 17 overbridges at railway gates in Kerala, in addition to the 27 overbridges previously sanctioned for the Kerala Rail Development Corporation. The Southern Railways applied for 96 flyovers, and 36 have been approved, with 17 falling under the Kerala division. The estimated cost of this project is Rs 701.5 crores, to be equally shared between the state government and the railway. The MD of Kerala Rail Development Corporation mentioned that work is ongoing at the Nilambur ROB out of the 27 approved, and tenders will be called for the rest once land acquisition is complete.
