Tamil Nadu Allocates Rs 321.43 Crore to Revive Delayed Road Projects

Project News | Project Update | Project Opportunities

The Tamil Nadu state highways department has taken a significant step towards addressing the delay in 12 road projects by allocating an additional budget of Rs 321.43 crore. These projects encompass a range of infrastructural developments, including road expansions, the construction of road overbridges, underpasses, and flyovers. The funds have been specifically earmarked for land acquisition, with the objective of expediting the progress of these projects and enhancing the overall road infrastructure across Tamil Nadu.

The allocation of this substantial amount underscores the state government’s commitment to revitalizing and completing these long-pending road projects. By injecting these additional resources into the projects, the authorities aim to overcome the delays that have hindered their progress and ensure their timely and efficient completion.

The 12 road projects encompass a diverse range of developments, reflecting the state’s multifaceted transportation needs. They include the ambitious six-laning of the East Coast Road, stretching from Thiruvanmiyur to Akkarai, which aims to enhance connectivity and streamline traffic flow along this vital coastal route. Additionally, the construction of road overbridges between Katpadi and Vellore railway stations, Salem market and Salem town railway station, Vandalur and Guduvancheri, and Sevvapettai station between Tiruvallur and Thiruninravur stations will alleviate congestion and improve safety at these crucial junctions.

Furthermore, the plan includes the development of a road underbridge between Vaniyambadi and Kethandapatti railway stations, along with a road overbridge at Mailakarai-Tiruchengode Erode road. These initiatives aim to enhance connectivity and facilitate smoother movement between these locations.

In addition to these road expansions and overbridges, the project portfolio also includes the formation of the Tharamangalam bypass, widening of the Chennai-Ennore road from two lanes to four lanes, and the construction of an Eastern bypass at Tambaram. These measures will contribute to improved traffic management and a seamless transportation experience for commuters.

Lastly, the plan encompasses the construction of a flyover at Medavakkam and the widening of the Chennai-Chittoor-Bengaluru road. These developments are anticipated to mitigate congestion and enhance connectivity along these important corridors.

With the infusion of the additional budget for land acquisition, the Tamil Nadu state highways department aims to expedite the progress of these projects and bolster the state’s road infrastructure. By addressing the delays that have impeded their completion, the government is committed to delivering enhanced transportation facilities, smoother connectivity, and safer travel experiences for the residents and visitors of Tamil Nadu.
