NTPC, the state-owned power giant, is making strides in the hydrogen sector by initiating a hydrogen hub in Andhra Pradesh. The hub at Pudimadaka will house manufacturing facilities for equipment, production, and export of green hydrogen and green ammonia. Additionally, a non-binding MoU has been signed with the Government of Andhra Pradesh for a hydrogen hub near Visakhapatnam. NTPC has also completed the consolidation of its renewable energy portfolio under NTPC Green Energy (NGEL), which includes transferring 15 RE assets and 100% equity shareholding of NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (REL). Notably, NGEL has signed MoUs with HPCL and IOCL for round-the-clock renewable energy supply and with the Indian Army for green hydrogen projects. Furthermore, a term sheet has been signed with Greenko for the supply of 13,000 MW of round-the-clock renewable energy.
