MMRDA is implementing the 10.25 km long Thane-Borivali tunnel project in 2021.The authority is reworking on the project design and are intending to incorporate various safety systems into the project. The work on the twin tunnels was supposed to commence in March 2022, The connection project will necessitate the acquisition of 16.54 hectares of private land and 40.46 hectares of land within Sanjay Gandhi National Park in order to significantly cut the travel time between Borivali and Thane to only 15 minutes.
