Nine mini waste-to-energy plants in Mumbai

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)

BMC will setup Nine mini waste-to-energy or biomethanization plants with a daily processing capacity of two metric tonnes (MT) of organic waste. Each of the proposed plants will require about 2,200 sqft of land, and 500 litres of water per day for operation.These will be spread out around Mumbai and on completion will reduce the amount of wet garbage being dumped at the Deonar and Kanjurmarg disposal sites.
