The Indian government has allocated Rs 839 crore under FAME-II and an additional Rs 2,000 crore under the PM E-DRIVE scheme to expand Electric Vehicle Public Charging Stations nationwide. As per the new 2024 guidelines, EV charging is now a de-licensed activity to encourage private participation. R&D in electric mobility is also incentivised under the PLI ACC and Capital Goods schemes, with up to 80% funding support for EV-related projects through institutions like IITs and IISc.
