A mission-mode programme has been launched by the Uttar Pradesh Government to restart production at the Chhata sugar mill in Mathura and establish a 120 KPLD ethanol distillery at Pipraich sugar mill in Gorakhpur. The Mathura unit, shut since 2009, will undergo infrastructure upgrades to increase its daily crushing capacity from 2,000 tonnes to 4,900 tonnes, with private participation invited for operations. The Pipraich distillery, planned with a ?90 crore budget, will commence construction once the implementing agency is finalized, promoting ethanol production in the region.
