The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has approved the alignment for the 244 km Patna-Purnia six-lane expressway, with the detailed project report (DPR) underway for agency selection. Construction is expected to begin before the monsoon in June. The expressway will start at Mirnagar village near Sarai in Vaishali district, linking with the Patna Outer Ring Road at Sherpur. Passing through Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Saharsa, Madhepura, and Purnia, the corridor aims to enhance connectivity to Patna.
