HPCL plans to invest ?1.3 lakh crore over 15 years to expand refining capacity and accelerate its transition to clean energy. It has upgraded the Visakhapatnam refinery to 15 MMTPA and expects the Barmer refinery to be operational by 2025. The company aims for 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and 1 MTPA of biofuel production, investing in solar, wind, and biogas projects. With an annual capex of ?12,000-15,000 crore, 25-35% is allocated to clean energy. HPCL’s strategy balances refining expansion with sustainability efforts to strengthen India’s energy security.
