Ponnani, a Non-Major Port controlled by the Government of Kerala, is set to receive partial funding of Rs. 20 crore under the Sagarmala Scheme for constructing a Multi-Purpose Berth. The Kerala Maritime Board has proposed this development to enhance regional connectivity, cruise tourism, and economic growth. Additionally, the government is exploring a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model and has invited Expressions of Interest (EoI) from private providers to establish cruise shipping routes linking Ponnani with other Non-Major and neighboring state ports.
