The Southern Railway’s fourth line initiative from Chennai Egmore to Beach railway station is on track for completion by August’s end. Initially budgeted at ?274.20 crore and launched in September, the project encountered delays attributed to land acquisition challenges and Cyclone Michaung. Despite setbacks, seven minor bridges and one major bridge are finished, with ongoing piling work along the Cooum River. Reconstruction has commenced at Chennai Park and Fort stations, marking progress toward enhanced railway connectivity. Once completed, the project is expected to significantly benefit daily commuters and bolster the overall transportation infrastructure.
