Kerala's NH 66 Elevated Expressway Project Nears Completion, Sets National Records

Roads and Highways Sector News | Project News | Project Update | Project Opportunities

The construction of the National Highway in Kerala is rapidly progressing, with a significant milestone being the Elevated Expressway on the Alapuzha Aroor–Thuravoor route, forming part of NH 66. This expressway, touted as one of the country’s largest highways, boasts 374 pillars, with over 30% already under construction. The Aroor–Thuravoor Elevated Highway, spanning 24 meters wide, is noteworthy for housing the longest six-lane elevated road supported by a single pillar in India. Remarkably, acquisition of only half an acre of land was required for this expansive project. In addition to the six-lane elevated road, construction includes a ramp leading to the Venduruthy Bridge. With an estimated cost of Rs 1,675 crore, this project signals Kerala’s commitment to enhancing its transportation infrastructure while setting new standards in highway engineering.
