Corning India Projects
Corning, known for its durable Gorilla Glass, plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore in establishing a cover glass manufacturing facility in Pillaipakkam near Kancheepuram District, Tamil Nadu. This venture, in partnership with Optiemus Infracom Ltd under the joint venture Bharat Innovative Glass Technologies Private Limited (BIG TECH), aims to produce glass for smartphones, tablets, and laptops made by major companies like Apple, Samsung, and Google. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) for this project was signed with the Government of Tamil Nadu in January 2024.
