The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has allocated approximately Rs 45,000 crore for investments in highways and tertiary roads during the current financial year 2024-25 (FY25). This substantial investment aims to enhance passenger and cargo movement across the state. The projects include the construction of bridges and over-bridges spanning all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh. Of the proposed budget, the public works department (PWD) is set to utilize nearly Rs 34,000 crore, accounting for 75%, while the remaining Rs 11,000 crore will be allocated for projects in villages, tehsils, block headquarters, international/interstate border roads, roads in sugar mill and industrial areas, and those under the ‘Dharmarth’ (religious tourist circuit) project.
