The Ministry of Coal has approved the setting up of a 3×800 MW Ultra Super Critical Thermal Power Plant at Talabira through NLCIL. This project aims to promote the establishment of thermal power plants at pit-head locations to reduce the transportation cost of coal. NLCIL has been allotted Talabira coal mines, with total reserves of 553 million tonnes and a peak rated capacity of 23 million tonnes.
