Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Chittorgarh in Rajasthan on 2nd October 2023, where he dedicated various development projects worth approximately Rs 7,000 crores. These projects span multiple sectors, including energy, transportation, and rail infrastructure, with a focus on enhancing connectivity, reducing emissions, and improving transportation of essential commodities.
Key projects inaugurated and their significance:
Mehsana – Bhatinda – Gurdaspur Gas Pipeline: The dedication of this gas pipeline represents a vital addition to the country’s energy infrastructure. The pipeline, constructed at a cost of about Rs. 4,500 crores, will facilitate the transportation of natural gas, ensuring a reliable energy supply to regions along its route.
LPG Plant of HPCL at Abu Road: This plant, capable of bottling and distributing 86 lakh cylinders per annum, is a significant step toward ensuring access to clean cooking fuel. The plant’s operation is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 0.5 million tons per annum, thanks to fewer truck movements.
Additional Storage at Ajmer Bottling Plant, IOCL: The expansion of storage capacity at this bottling plant aims to ensure an uninterrupted supply of LPG cylinders, supporting the provision of clean cooking fuel.
4-Lane Road on NH-12 (New NH-52): The construction of this four-lane road on the Darah-Jhalawar-Teendhar section will enhance transportation connectivity, benefiting the movement of minerals from Kota and Jhalawar districts.
Railway Over Bridge (ROB) Widening in Sawai Madhopur: Laying the foundation stone for the widening of a railway over bridge from two lanes to four lanes in Sawai Madhopur aims to alleviate traffic congestion issues in the region.
Railway Infrastructure Projects: Dedication of rail infrastructure projects, including the doubling of the Chittorgarh – Neemuch Railway line and Kota Chittorgarh Electrified Railway line, at a cost of more than Rs 650 crores, underlines efforts to strengthen rail connectivity and infrastructure.
These projects collectively aim to bolster energy infrastructure, provide clean cooking fuel access, enhance transportation connectivity, and improve rail transportation. They contribute to regional development, environmental sustainability, and economic growth in Rajasthan.
