In a positive development for environmental efforts, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is making significant strides towards sustainable waste management with the imminent commissioning of upgraded biomethanation plants. The latest progress comes as the Pattabhirama Nagar biomethanation plant is set to undergo a trial run, marking a vital step in the city’s waste-to-energy efforts. Back in December 2020, BBMP initiated the process of upgrading seven biomethanation plants, aiming to enhance waste management capabilities and generate electricity. However, the progress was impeded by challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, with the recent visit of the BBMP South Zone Commissioner and directions to proceed with the trial phase at the Pattabhirama Nagar facility, there’s a renewed commitment to environmentally friendly waste solutions.
