Mumbai aims to establish four sewage treatment plants (STPs) on the reclaimed areas designated for the Mumbai Coastal Road Project. These STPs will recycle biological waste and sewage water, providing treated water for irrigation, gardening, and civic works. The largest plant, located near Atria Mall, will have a capacity to treat 300 Kilo Litres (KLD) of sewage. Additional STPs with capacities of 100 KLD, 50 KLD, and 35 KLD will be built near Mahalaxmi Temple, Nepean Sea Road, and the Darya Sagar slums, respectively. This initiative aims to prevent the disposal of human waste into the Arabian Sea and reclaimed land.
