The eagerly anticipated semi high-speed train in Delhi NCR has entered its trial phase, where the RapidX train reached speeds of 160 kmph across a 17 km priority stretch. Impressively, the Delhi-Meerut RRTS via Ghaziabad covered this distance in a mere 12 minutes during these tests. The trial operations involve empty RapidX trains running at 15-minute intervals from 6 am to 11 pm, indicating that the launch of services on this route is imminent. After a minor delay, commuters traveling between Sahibabad in Ghaziabad and Duhai can soon enjoy the benefits of this swift transportation option. The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS, the first line of the network, aims to establish connections between major Delhi-NCR cities and satellite towns in Uttar Pradesh, extending up to Meerut. Upon the completion of the entire route, authorities foresee a daily ridership of approximately 8 lakh passengers.
