NMDC Steel's Commissioning Date at Nagarnar, Chhattisgarh Set for June 2023

Project News | Project Update | Project Opportunities

NMDC, a leading iron ore mining company in India, has rescheduled the commissioning date for its newly demerged steel plant, NMDC Steel, in Nagarnar, Chhattisgarh. The Ministry of Steel initially set a deadline of March 31, 2023, but it has now been extended to the end of June 2023.

The steel plant, with an annual capacity of three million tonnes (MT), has attracted an investment of around Rs 23,000 crore from NMDC. The preparations for production are nearly complete, with the successful commissioning of various ancillary units such as coke oven batteries, power blowing unit, oxygen plant, and central plant. Currently, the blast furnace is being refurbished, and the plant aims to commence the production of hot rolled coils (HRCs) by the end of June.
