In Kerala’s Kochi, the Greater Cochin Development Authority has made the decision to build 100 public toilets. The location of the proposed toilet complexes will be announced soon. Four of the city’s five toilet complexes will be operational in two months. Separate toilets for men, women, transgender persons, and people with disabilities will be provided. The funding is made under the Cochin Smart Mission scheme. Two toilet complexes are being built at Marine Drive and one each at Kaloor and Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium. Another complex is planned at Ambedkar Stadium and it is in the tendering stage. The toilets will be leased out and the authority will ensure that it is properly maintained.
