Varanasi ropeway project aims to reduce the travel time between the Cantonment railway station and Godowalia Chowk. Five stations will be built along this corridor, at the Varanasi Cantonment, Vidya Peeth, Rath Yatra, Girja Ghar, and Godowlia Chowk, in accordance with the ropeway project’s plan. As Girja Ghar is a technical station, boarding and deboarding are not permitted there. For the ropeway, a total of 30 towers will be constructed, ranging in height from 10 to 55 metres. The National Highways Logistics Management Ltd (NHLML), has awarded a contract worth Rs 807 crore to Vishwa Samudra Engineering Private Limited for the construction of a 3.85 km urban ropeway project in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The work on this project is likely to commence by May 2023. The ropeway project is likely to start operations by May 2025.
