Telangana government has recently committed Rs 2,500 crore to the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project, including for the expansion of metro services to the old city and for metro connectivity to the airport. The Hyderabad Metro Rail project has received Rs 1,500 crore in funding from the 2023–2024 state budget, which was presented to the State Assembly. The government also allotted Rs 500 crore for each of the following projects: extending Metro Rail services to the ancient city and providing metro connectivity to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad.
