The 186 kilometre long and 90 metre wide Intermediary Ring Road (IRR) project has now received state cabinet approval for realignment. The Bengaluru Metropolitan Region Development Authority came up with the idea in 2007. (BMRDA). The projected IRR will pass through the Ramanagara, Bengaluru Rural, and Urban districts of Bengaluru. The project needs to be realigned some of its section overlaps with the already-proposed Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR) and Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) projects.
