Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) has ventured into hydro energy generation. CIAL will soon inaugurate its first hydro power plant at Arippara near Kozhikode. This plant will generate 14 million units annually. The 4.5 MWp run off the river small hydro project (SHP) was awarded by the Kerala Power Department, as per the Kerala Small Hydro power policy under Built-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) for a lease period of 30 years.
