India to spend $200 million to promote hydrogen use

India is going ahead with its plan to harness the power of hydrogen. The country is likely to spend $200 million in the next 5-7 years to promote hydrogen use. The state-run oil and gas companies have been directed to set up seven hydrogen pilot plants by the end of this financial year. The Oil minister has recently said at an online conference that the government plans to scale up use of hydrogen blended with compressed natural gas (H-CNG) as a transportation fuel.
