The Ministry of Sports plans to set up a centre of excellence in hockey at Lucknow in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The project also includes a 100-bed hostel for boys and girls, modern sports medicine and physiotherapy centres, etc. The centre will come up at the state government-run Padma Shri Mohd Shahid Synthetic Stadium. The construction of the hostel is likely to start soon.
