In October, 2019, an Indo-Dutch project named ‘ Local Treatment of Urban Sewage Streams for Healthy Reuse’, or LOTUS-HR Phase-II was launched at Barapullah drain in New Delhi. The project aims to clean the Barapullah drain holistically by treating waste water and afforestation of the waste land. The project is jointly supported by Department of Biotechnology, under Union Ministry of Science and Technology and Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research. IIT-Delhi and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) are partners in this project.
