Simple Energy plans to build one of the country’s largest electric two-wheeler plants in Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu. The factory is projected to cost up to Rs 2,500 crore to build. Simple Energy has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government for the second phase of its project, which will include the construction of a second facility on 600 acres. An initial investment of Rs 1000 crore will be made in the unit. The first phase of the facility, encompassing 2 lakh square feet of development at Shoolagiri, Hosur, is already under construction. In Phase I, the unit will have a capacity of one million tons per year. By early 2022, the unit will be operational.
