The Solapur Airport was inaugurated through video conferencing on September 29, 2024, marking a significant development in the region’s infrastructure. Developed at an estimated cost of ?65 crore, the airport is designed to accommodate Code-B type aircraft and features a terminal building with a total area of 1,152 square meters, capable of serving 150 passengers during peak hours and 410,000 annually. The terminal includes essential facilities such as two check-in counters and a concession area, with parking for 100 cars. Airside improvements involve an expanded apron for four aircraft and the completion of a fire station. The terminal incorporates sustainable technologies, including energy-efficient systems and 100% LED lighting. Artworks reflecting Solapur’s rich culture, including representations of the Lavani dance and traditional musical instruments, enhance the passenger experience. The new airport is expected to improve connectivity, boost business and tourism opportunities, and support Solapur’s renowned textile industry and agricultural production.
