Environmental clearance has been sought for the proposed expansion of an Integrated Sponge Iron Plant at SIPCOT, Perundurai, Tamil Nadu. The project aims to transform the existing setup, which includes 11,000 TPM of sponge iron production, 9,000 TPM from the furnace division, and 9,000 TPM from the steel rolling mill, into a full-fledged Integrated Steel Plant. This expansion will include the addition of a 25 Ton/Hr Re-Heating Furnace with a capacity of 15,000 TPM and a new Captive Power Plant based on Dolochar, generating 5 MW.
