A budget of Rs 14,700 crore has been set aside for railway development in Madhya Pradesh. Recently, a train service between Jaura and Kailaras in Morena district was flagged off by the railway minister following the conversion of the route from narrow gauge to broad gauge. The Gwalior-Sheopurkalan (188 km) narrow gauge track is being upgraded to broad gauge at a cost of Rs 2,355 crore, with 61 kilometers of the route already converted. The entire project is expected to be completed by July 2025 and is set to boost socio-economic development, accelerate industrial growth, create jobs, and reduce transportation costs and time in the region.
